I was on here a while back as I have a bipolar husband. He was diagnosed 2 years ago. He went through the cutting and mixing his meds and alcohol and all the things I have been reading about. He is off the alcohol and is somewhat better.Have any one taken adderall? my hubby was on it but came off due to high blood pressure and he never felt it gave him the pickup he needed .Last week was awful. The withdrawal was terrible. I have been off work since Jan due to Back surgery and will be going back to work next week. My husband hasn't been able to work for 2 1/2 months. He mostly sleeps. He is on Wellbutrin in the morning, clonazepam as needed for anxiety and panic attacks, Abilify and Symbyax at night. He has no motivation to do anything.
Any response will be appreciated.

Hi Bama wife,

Welcome back to the site! Good to have you. I have no experience with adderall myself. Are you worried about your husband when you go back to work? Is he depressed? How often is he seeing his psych doc?

Hi Bama Wife

I'm on Abilify, Wellbutrin, Ativan for anxiety and panic and Adderall to give me enough boost in the morning to get me out of bed.  The adderall made the greatest difference for me.  I battled depression for over a year, I could find no motivation to do ANYTHING.  20 mgs of Adderall in the morning and I'm good to go all day.  It's like once I get that little jumpstart, I just keep going even after it wears off.

I guess it doesn't work for everyone.  Drug reactions are so individual.  I hope he finds something that works for him soon.  I know from recent experience that adjusting his own meds is a bad idea.  I really got myself in a state doing that.  I'm just starting to settle back down again.  From now on I take them like the pdoc says.

Good judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.

Thanks Serafena and Ellie 1,
I am concerned about going back to work. Hubby is out of the house for a change and hopefully he is better. He see's his doc every month. I really miss my husband. He is not the same man I married 21 years ago but he is still the love of my life. The worst part is watching someone you love go through so much misery.I enjoy reading the post on here even tho it hurts to know so many are going through the same things with bipolar. I wish you all well and thanks again for the imput.
