I have bipolar 1 and take Zyprexa... well my MD gives me free medication(samples) every month. as my insurance doesnt cover mental health. I am feel so blessed to be able to get my meds from my dr... other wise  Zyprexa being very expensive would cost me $200.33 per month....   I am sharing this with any one who needs meds but cant afford them.

That's really nice of your doc to give you free samples when you can't afford your meds.  My pdoc did that when I first started taking Lamictal.

Most of the samples they have are for the newer meds, they usually do not carry any of the old ones.

I saw your post in the forum and wanted to tell you about something that helps me. I went to a website called Partnership for Prescription Assistance and now get my meds for free. I had to download a form, print it and fill it out, have my doc sign it, write scripts and then send the whole batch in with a copy of my 1040 tax form from last year. It was a little bit of work, but the meds I receive would have cost me over $1500 out of pocket because I have no insurance and we are lower income. Worth looking into?

My insurance company won't pay for Lexapro, wants me to take Celexa.  Doc gives me a couple months supply and then I have to use Celexa until I see him again.

Insurance company would not pay for Zyprexa, guess they thought they were paying for enough other meds.  Dr's office gives me Zyprex and Zyprexa Zydis also - I only take a couple of those a week so the many tabs he gives me last a long time.

I never understood why insurance companies will only pay for certain meds. For example, my husband was on Aciphex for heartburn and then swithced to a different insurance and they required him to switch to Nexium. How can they do that? It just doesn't seem fair.
