Welcome to HealingWell and to our board. I am sure if you've looked at any of the other recent posts, you'll see there are several spouses on our board who are in the same boat. Being married to someone with bipolar is exhausting and sometimes damaging. I'm sorry your wife is so self-centered right now. You are right, drinking is counteracting the medications she takes for her bipolar. But alcoholism is very common among bipolar sufferers. She needs to let her doctor know how much she really is drinking and get into a treatment program. I'm sorry to hear your marriage is suffering, may I suggest you get some counseling for yourself as well? You will get some professional advice about
how to proceed and you'll also have someone to talk to about
your own frustrations and pain.
(BTW, please don't type in all caps -- it denotes yelling and is mostly hard to read.)
