Hi ya'll.  I'm new here.  I would like some suggestions on where to go from here with my meds.   Right now I'm on Prozac 30mgs, Tegretol XR 1000 mgs, Serequel XR 300, and Rozerm 8 mgs...a day.   I've been on the Serequel for about six months or so and have to get off it soon.  I don't want the side effects to affect me long term...like the one about it raising your bad cholesterol and so on.   So....what other meds are out there that I could try to take the place of the Seroquel?  Any suggestions on what to try.

I need a pill that will futher stable the occasional hypo mania and sleepless and irritability that comes with that.......basicly a pill that will mellow my moods out a little bit more in a way the Tegretol just can't seem to touch.  Not mellow "Me" out, mellow my moods out a bit more...if that makes sense.  Don't get me wrong the tegretol is a true life saving wonder.  But I need a little more ummfh...that it just can't give.  Wish it did though I hate taking pills.

I was diagnosed as manic depressive at the age of seven...been taking pills ever since.

Hi Veggielover,

Just wanted to take a moment to welcome you to HealingWell and to the board. Have you talked to your doctor about this question yet. Certainly your psychiatrist would be your best first resource for coming up with drugs which will accommodate the goals you have. Do you like your psych? Is he/she good with drugs?

You say you were diagnosed at 7. Do you mind me asking how old you are now?

Thanks,
serafena
