Hey everyone...sorry I haven't been around a lot the past few weeks. Life has been crazy...I'm sure you all understand. I've missed you guys though!

Anyway with all the stress I've been under lately I've been hearing/seeing things. In the past this has happened with a lot of stress, but never this bad. The seeing things isn't too bad...just once in a great while, but the past couple of weeks the hearing things has gotten worse...like worse than ever. People are starting to worry about me because I constantly ask if they can hear it too. It's not like there are people talking to me directly...it's more like a tv in the distance or someone having a conversation in the distance for the most part. I told one of my pdoc's associates this yesterday and she said maybe I have "something more" than originally thought. She didn't mention my bipolar or what this "something more" could be. Do you think she could've just meant a more severe bipolar than originally thought? Do you think she means I could be schizophrenic or something like that? Do any of you experience these things regularly or when really stressed? If you do what is it like? Do voices talk to you? Tell you to do things? Do you just hear people in general? Don't hear people at all, just other things?

I hope someone can make me feel a little less like I'm cracking. sad

Hi- I am a new member. I had actually forgotten about this until I read your post because it hasn't happened for at least a year. But I used to hear things as well like a faint radio transmission. I even woke my husband up and asked him to turn it off a few times- it was never on. My doctor at the time was more interested in getting my cycles under control. I still will occasionally feel like something is going to manifest in front of me when I'm REALLY manic and occasionally I have thought I've seen something move out of the side of my eye like a shadow. (I absolutely do not believe in ghosts! :-) These only happen when my insides are really racing. Hope that helps.

Hey there: I just wanted to say you're not alone. A couple of weeks ago, as I was under tremendous stress with a capital S, I would see odd little irregularities off to the right of my visual field. It would be like a raven flying over, or a movement, like a deer in the woods off to the side of the road. I wasn't on any medication for BiPolar at that time. Since then I've gotten to see a pdoc and am on medication. I'm like an Indigo Child. For example, I know when someone close to me is going to pass on before they actually do. I usually dream about their passing but sometimes I see them walking or driving past me. I don't tell too many people cause I'm afraid they'll think I'm nuts. Ironic eh?  I've always been super tuned in to other's emotional signals. I can tell an angry, or sad or lost person from quite a distance. I'm just tuned that way. So, don't be afraid, just keep in touch with your support people.

Part of my fiance's mania (before Risperdal) DEFINITELY included seeing things (police lights when there were none, animals "talking to him")... our pdoc told us that it was certainly a byproduct of high mania (not necessarily schziophrania, but schizo-affective, or just the psychotic-side of mania)...

anyway, I don't think you're alone.

thanks guys...I feel a little better then. my boyfriend just keeps thinking I'm crazy everytime I ask him if he hears the same thing I am and apparently it's completely silent. I think he's getting used to it though.

right before I was put my medicine for bi polar I use to think that my phone was ringing all of the time. I could hear it in the shower but it was turned off. Or a song that I cannot get out of my head for days. It just goes on and on and on. There were some other things but I cannot remember them now. How nice that it has finally stopped.
I got Lymes in 2004. So did my 11 mos old daughter and my favorite dog Toto.

Hi, before I was diagnosed and on meds I would see things move out of the corner of my eye or hear someone entering my room when they weren't or hear my kids say something when they didn't speak. and as martha's vineyard had said songs would get stuck in my head for days. things calmed down until recently when I switched to abilify and now I am kind of hearing things again. like I will hear a motorcycle passing by the house but instead of fading away like normal it just contiues. it's wierd. anyway, just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

2 closure-i have always seen things in my peripheral vision off/on since childhood.they were like flitting shadows.also heard things that others did not hear i.e. music or someone speaking lowly.i was told it is associated with my bipolar.i have recently had medication increase of mood stabilizer Trileptal and now i'm not doin that so much.we r different than schizophrenics because we hear it externally not from inside our heads.it's the brain chemicals off kilter from bipolar that seem to be the culprit.nice 2 know we're not alone :)

Hi Closure,

I just wanted to say that I am glad that you are getting suppport from others because I can imagine that what you are going though is scarey.  My sister use to see things in the morning when she woke up.  They were usually clowns or cartoon type characters.  She says since she got off of a certain medication, that I can't remember, possibley seroquel, the visions have stopped.  But she said that she was rather amused with them most of the time.  Just want you to know that you really are not alone in this.  And I am happy with the support you have been given here.  This truly is a wonderful forum.

Hi I am a new member. At the moment i'm in limbo. Still waiting to be diagnosed. It's a total nightmare. I recently started hearing things like loud banging and people talking. I couldn't make out what they were saying as they sounded far away or muffled. I also hear people calling my name. This has been very stressful and frightening for me. It happens everyday all day . I dont know how to deal with it and it is making me worse. What can I do?

I read somewhere that the brain is actually a radio receiver. If that's so, why shouldn't it be possible to pick up radio waves through the atmosphere? Many people who are psychic can pick up faint images on waves of energy. Others don't believe it at all.

Do you live very close to someone (maybe next door) who plays his radios or tv at the time you are in close proximity to him?

I hope you won't be frightened by it.  It might be  just a natural phenomenon.

Thanks for your post. I see what you are saying. I do believe that some people are gifted that way and should embrace it. I was told a few months ago by a medium that I had the gift. I was excited about what if said, but never experienced anything until recently. Now I dont know if it's bi-polar related or I have spirits around me.

Hi Closure,
Like it has been said you are not alone with these distressing symptoms.  When I in my depressive mode I hear voices - I know they are not really there but i hear them all the same.  I also think people are out to harm me or invade my privacy.  The worst and most terrifying delusion is that people change colour before my very eyes.  My pdoc knows all about these symptoms but her dignosis remains the same - i am bipolar - i have no other mental illness.  Hope this helps your anxiety.  Keep sharing.  Take care.
Peter

Hey there,

I used to see/hear things, too.

Things like (what I figured were) demons flying into my peripheral vision and I used to hear demons whispering my name. Scary stuff but a little more Zyprexa and they mercifully went away.

Hope things settle down for ya.
