I've been on Lamictal and Tofranil PM for two weeks now and instead of being "flatlined" with my emotions they're all over the place.  In addition to the afore mentioned RX's I also take Trazodone and Topamax.  I had a mess with insurance companies, doctor offices and RX mail-in co. trying to get RX's filled yesterday.  I wasn't the one at fault yet I'm the one suffering!!  I was to the point of pure rage and wanted to smash the phone to pieces (didn't however as I was at work).  Don't these people realize why I take these medications to begin with...and their incompetence only adds to the problem? Also have the crawling out of my skin as others have mentioned.  I thought that my emotions (moods) would become more even not stronger.  Also find myself eating in great quantites and often; my pdoc said that it's because I'm trying to get to the "numb" stage again.  Does anyone else have this problem (eating)?  Thanks!

Hi Yankeepeaches,

You're definitely not alone. I'm definitely an eater, and I think several other people have mentioned it as well. It's a classic way to try and stuff emotions back down. It's not effective for long though, unfortunately, so we just eat more. Stupid cycles. I'm sorry your meds aren't working right now and you need to talk to your pdoc soon. The meds are not going to make you "flat line" and if they do, you need new meds. You should feel like yourself, just normal. But you shouldn't be hypomanic either and it sounds like you might be. Something's not doing its job.

Take good care,
