  I have a question with Re: meds for bipolar.As I have written my wife has bipolar diorder and she now has what I refer to as more pills than wlgreens to take Topomax - Seroquil -Amben -Kolonopin -Effexor for Her condition.Does this treatment seem similar to that of anyone else or is the Dr. over doing it.
  Iam a retired Pilot who is paying for theese out of pocket and it currently costs about $1,200.00 per month just for her medication and will continue to do so as long as it takes if this is the right balance.

Hi Repo;

That is a lot, but it's not unusual. I'm on 5 too, for instance. Topomax, Lamictal, Serzone, Abilify, and Lexapro. I'm lucky -- I've got strong med coverage. However, mention to your doc you're paying out of pocket and can't afford all these meds. He/she will try and help. Often they will try something cheaper (there is a generic Effexor, for instance) or give you samples (They get tons of these right from the med companies). The other thing is to try and find a prescription relief program for your state. There's a website / that can help you locate prescription assistance programs that may be a fit for you. It can be a bit overwhelming though.

I hope this is helpful,
