Hi Everyone,
Iam new here even though I have been lurking for a long time.
Right now Iam having trouble with meds as I switched from zyprexa which was controling
my symptoms very well...to seroquel. The reason for the switch was because my husband had an affair two years ago and Iam trying to lose weight. Zyprexa caused me to eat at night. Well I have lost about 10 pounds since going off the zyprexa but my moods are all over the place....and it doesn't help that my marriage of 30 yrs is not in a good place either.
I have an appt tomorrow with mental health  and asked to see a pdoc as my gp has been the one prescribing my meds . I should add that I started out taking 100mg of seroquel but was having such side effects from it that I started cutting it in half. Does anyone have any advice for me for tomorrow as far as my appointment or meds?

                                                               Thank You

Hi Ryensnana:

Welcome to HealingWell. I'm glad you came out of Lurkdom to speak up -- the more the merrier, I say. Zyprexa is known for weight gain, so I for one am not surprised you're switching. You're already doing my first recommendation -- seeing a pdoc instead of a gp. They'll know more about what is a good replacement for zyprexa and if the seroquel isn't a good fit, they'll help come up with something that is.

The second thing you can probably guess as well. I think you could probably use some therapy. It sounds like you're dealing with some fairly heavy emotional struggles right now: bumpy marriage, weight problems, etc... I think you could use some professional support too. Does your mental health clinic offer therapy as well?
