Well here's an up-date on Invega...So far I haven't had a melt down this week, have been rather chatty on the board and haven't taken off my husband's head this week and have slept great!! :-)    So that's the upside now the down side...I'm blowing up like a balloon; okay maybe not a balloon but my rings are getting tighter and so are the jeans.  My face is fuller and at night all I want to do is eat!  Normally I'm an emotional eater but this has been a good week  (found a new pdoc, made an appt. with a therapist, got my hair cut and I'm working on a great bible study) so no reason for emotional eating...but the scale is going up instead of down or at the very least staying the same. sad   It is so aggravating to find a medication that helps you and then causes a side effect that gives you more grief!!  I certianly can't afford to go out and buy a new wardrobe (just bought a bunch of new clothes for fall) and I must admit I'm not much of an excerise kinda gal...I seem to be craving carbs most of all and that really packs on the pounds.  I don't want to give up the new med. if it's going to keep leveled off but I'm not sure what to do about the side effect of shoveling in the food.  I guess I'm just doing I little venting here.  This bp is just so unfair!!!

That is very frustrating. I wish I had some truly useful advice, but being a great fan of carbs myself (and it definitely shows!) I don't. How about writing down everything you eat so you have to at least think about what you put in your mouth before you eat it?

Well Serafena, I suppose I could try that but that would require putting down my cookie!!! I'm just trying not to let myself get too down here since I've had such I great week. I will make a conscience effort to watch what I put in my mouth; maybe if I actually see it in black and white it will be a little shock therapy for me. I'm sure I'll be stunned whenever I actually see the list. Thanks!

I don't have bp, but i love cookies and carbs in general...at weight watchers they tell you to write everything down that you put in your mouth. Maybe that would help? On a funny note, all my fiance has to do is cut out McDonalds and he drops 10 lbs...so annoying. He did gain weight w/ Depakote, but I'll take weight gain and decreased sex drive any day over untreated bipolar. :)

I'm glad the Invega is helping, though!! That is a positive development

Oh I agree completely!!!! I asked my husband what his opinion was on my "mood" this week and he said I had done a 180 so a few extra "love" handles are currently worth the stability! I was on weight watchers several years ago and did pretty good; just didn't stick with it. I tend to do that with most "diets"; my passion is cooking and I love things like butter and cheese and low-fat versions just don't cut it! Plus my idea of dessert isn't a piece of fruit lol...still I'll try the journal idea...thanks

I wonder if being BP makes you a carb. craver?  Glad your moods are stable!  I cannot imagine what that feels like!  My weight is good but cannot find any meds to work.  I even went "herbal" for a while but not much overall help.  I do want 1 1/2 miles a day and that does offset weight gain and it so clears me head!  Problem is I have a job and a family and only so much energy so I can not walk every waking moment.  Can we say manic rapid cycler? ha ha ha ha ha

I have to laugh at myself because my family does not seem to find much humor in me these days.

Have a great day, or what is left of it.  Time for me to go home and send the house into an uproar! turn
