I am brand new to this site. I am 31, divorced with 2 kids.   I was diagnosed with BPII about 12 years ago and have played the "medicine game" as I like to call it since then.

I have felt myself slipping the last couple days and I hate it. I feel hopeless- overwhelmed- sad- but irritated.  I take Lamictal and Effexor and for the most part I feel great....just slip into depression though.   I HATE THIS !!

Someone please talk to me  cry

Hi Krypto, I joined this site recently as well. I have Bipolar I, diagnosed after 16 years. I have found a perfect mood stabilizer but I also have to take Risperdal and that makes me sleepy all day. When I get depressed, I go to the beach. I went for a vacation to Egypt last week and it cheered me up. I love history and the Pharaohs left behind an incredible amount of stuff to see. Parks and beaches really help when I am depressed - I feel nature has a lot of healing power. Cute animals like squirrels, chipmunks and birds also make me a little happier about life. Sleeping helps as well.

Hi shebsy ~

I wish I lived near the beach as I am sure that would help.

Right now all I want to do is sleep, I am sitting at my desk at work using every bit of strength that I have not to breakdown into tears. I don't know what to do anymore.

I am praying that you don't cry. Can't you go to a park or a lake?

Keep it up, and think about happy things. Your kids, momonets in your life, favorite foods, whatever gets you there. If nothig else go home and get a good nights rest. That allways seems to "reset" me.

Thanks.

I try to keep all of those things in mind but it's not enough sometimes. I believe that the only reason I am still here is because of my children.  I don't want them to grow up with a mother that left the world because she couldn't deal.

I also rapid cycle so I know in my head that this depression won't last long but the "pain" I am feeling right now is so intense.  It is difficult to because when I try to talk with family and friends they don't understand.  The ex boyfriend is about the only one that knows how to deal with me ~knows what I need and when.  I wish that I hadn't ruined that relationship.

I think I am rambling....

Hi Krypto,

Welcome to HealingWell and to the bipolar board. It's terrible you're having such a hard time right now, but we've all been there, so just keep talking. We can talk you down. And just in case you really need to talk and no one's responding here, here's a national hotline number: 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433).

Have you called your doctor yet? Mood swinging? Call the doc. Your meds have probably stopped being effective and you just need an adjustment. Are you on anything right now?

What do you do for joy in your life? You said you have kids, but what else makes you happy? I know depression takes the joy out of what brings us happiness, but sometimes it helps just to take stock and remember. What do you do for fun? I'm a knitter, and recently all I want to do is see the movie Twilight. I've seen it four times now. (I do understand that this damages my credibility. But hey, I'm depressed too. :-)) What brings you peace?
