Does 3 mg of Risperdal sound like a really high dosage?

I just had to increase my Risperdal to 3 mg and doing OK but I get so scared of anything at a high dose that it is going to cause worse problems than it is helping. My PDoc just retired, he still takes my phone calls about medicine until I can find a new PDoc and I have not even been looking. What the heck am I waiting on, especially since yesterday was probably the worse day I have had in two weeks.

Tell me what dosage of Risperdal you are on and how well it works for you. This drug is pretty much my last resort as I have been on almost all BP meds and could or would not tolerate them.

Hope everyone has a great day, remember, it is Friday Eve!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rxlist says that the highest dose for bipolar is 6 mgs per day and that starting dosage is 2-3mgs, so you needn't worry. You're still on the low end. Don't worry so much, just wait and see how it works.

Definitely get on finding a new pdoc. You need to see your doc every so often for maintenance, don't you? Get the list from your insurance. You can do this!!!

Yeah Mom, I know.  I did see my PDoc at least once a month and we talked alot because of my med issues.  But thankfully , right before he retired shakehead , we hit on risperdal and I have no side effects with this med, tho' I know that the higher the dosage the more likely they are to occurr.  And you are right I am (was) a worrier.  The Risperdal makes me calm and I feel like I respond appropriately to situations instead of blowing up or letting them steam roll over me.  That is the stable part I need and have been looking for, therefore I do not worry needlessly.  The Xanax is for high anxiety and no sleep (I am a maniac).

Ok I will give it some time and try to cultivate some patience (I want my meds to work now turn ) and keep calling around to get a PDoc appointment sometime this year! ha ha ha aha ha

Don't know if it helps answer your question or not, but my wife is on 1mg morning, 1mg daytime, & 2mg at bedtime.
