Im new here. I was wondering if geodon has MAOI as part of its ingredients? Because I have a bad cough and my cough suppressant medication had a warning on it not to mix the two.
I also am perscribed 20 mlgs of lexapro. 120 of geodon. Ive been on these medications for over 3 years and Im also wondering if they should be short term. thanks

Hi eve3ll,

Welcome to HealingWell and the bipolar board. No, MAOI's are a class of antidepressants which aren't used a whole lot any more but do sometimes turn up. Geodon is not one. Your doc would have warned you because to be on a MAOI you have to be on a special diet.

Lexapro and Geodon are not necessarily short-term drugs. If they keep you healthy and steady, then stay on them as long as you need to. That's between you and your doctor.

Hope this helps,
