I was just wondering if anyone has ever had trouble sleeping being on Lamictal? I've had trouble just going to sleep the last few days and last night was even worse....Went to bed at 10:30pm and I didn't fall asleep until 1am then my son woke up crying at 2am (just my luck lol) layed him back down at 2:30am and I'm still awake, it's 4am now.....I've tried to lay down and go to sleep but I can't....I also just looked up side effects for this drug and it says it can cause isomnia.....Great! I've never had problems with sleeping ever! Anyway I take 50mg twice a day and I was wondering if matters how far apart you take them? I've been taking my doses at 8am and 8pm....Wondering if I should take the second dose earlier and that could help? I know none of you are drs but just really curious if anyone can relate. Thanks.

Hi Wishdreamhope,

I've never had trouble sleeping on Lamictal and I'm on 250 a day. That's just me though. I think your spacing is fine, personally. I don't think taking it earlier will make much difference, because there's nothing stimulating about it per se. If it continues for a week or so, I would call your doc, especially because you have a young son -- you need your sleep!

I guess I'll have to see how tonight goes then...I have absolutely no idea what happened last night....The only thing I could think of was the Lamictal because I just had it increased a week ago today....So I made sure to look over the side effects again and it does say that it can cause isomnia....I know that there is nothing stimulating about it, it was just the only thing I could think of....Well if I have any more problems I'll just call the pharmacy....It sucks too because I was going to get to the grocery store early today for grocery shopping, now I feel like crap.....Thank god my son slept in until 9! I think I finally fell asleep at 5:30 after laying down at 4:30. Anyway thanks.
