Hi I'm dgerl and I was diagnosed with bp 3/08.  I have had a tough time dealing with med's, changes in med's and experiencing my first manic and deep depression stages.  Still feel stigma and don't tell many people or discuss.

Welcome. We all are dealing with BP in our own ways. Some of us have BP and some of us are spouses of people with BD. Regardless of your situation, you can feel safe sharing here. I've found a lot of comfort from this board.

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I feel I have two big challenges right now...managing my meds and finding the time to come up with a "wellness" plan.  For some reason I keep putting it off.  Perhaps being scared and not knowing "who" to include in the plan as well as "what".  My husband has done well so far, but the severe manic state that lasted 3-4 days and almost got me admitted to the hospital scared us both.

Two other things I am dealing with is the weight gain (12-15 pounds) from being on meds and affording them.  I am on, Gabapentin 400mg, Lamictal 300mg, Seroquel XR 150mg, Seroquel 100mg.  Through my mania they had me on Geodon which is outrageously expensive!  My doctor suggested replacing the regular Seroquel with Geodon, but for 90 pills it was $241 with insurance!

dgerl,

I just talked to my doc about the same thing, because my Ativan was costing me $280 a month! Ridiculous! She decided that rather than change my meds she'd give me samples. So talk to your doc. They can often help ease the burden a bit.
