Bipolar and Munchausen

Is this a common combination? It seems to me that its kind of difficult to differentiate between a high/low and a Munchausen problem. Any thoughts?

As far as I know it is not a common combination. Munchausen isn't common with anything -- it's quite rare, as far as I know. It's actually quite easy to distinguish between a mania/depressive cycle and a Munchausen problem. There are physical and psychological symptoms you can expect. If you don't believe your spouse is telling the truth, that's another ball of wax, though. It's a curious question you pose. Tell me what you're thinking.

I've just noticed that if you look at it one way...there is a pattern of "problems" she's always had that has put her in the center of focus for doctors and friends. I jokingly called it the "whoas me" syndrome. I recently discovered that she's been telling people she's had seizures so that why she's missed appt.'s. It put me in a VERY akward situation when one of them approached me and gave me well wishes for her recovery...

Then its the, I'm recovering from the stroke I had....or fainting on a retreat only to be in a hospital for a few weeks and surrounded by friends pouring out sympathy.

I dont want to sound like a jerk, but when she gets ill...its SEVERE. Almost needing hospitilazation at times.

I am not doubting her illness...but it sure has brought on a whole new level of support and needs. I dont know. Its just something thats crossed my mind and looking back, we used to kid about how many times she went on vacation (being admitted into a hospital for one reason or another). I can catch a common cold, but if she gets it, its pneumonia and hospital. Seems a bit odd @40..

Again, not being a jerk, just trying to understand...
