Hi;
I'm a newbie and just wanted to introduce my very frustrated self. My husband just admitted again tonight to neuro floor for the 3rd time since Christmas Eve. Given a tentative diagnosis of Partial Complex Seizure Disorder. Tonight, a new ER Doc says he thinks it's Pseudoseizure, for attention. While I agree it may be Pseudoseizure, I disagree on the attention seeking behavior part. My husband is diagnosed with PTSD, Bi-Polar, Antisocial Personality Disorder and Dementia secondary to chronic substance abuse. He is a VET and his primary care is through VA who are passing him like a hot potato as is the local hospital due to his behaviors. I explained  tonight that unlike them, I have no Ativan, no restraint and no legal right to restrain him in the event he becomes unmanageable, they sympathize with my position and offer no solution. He will likely be discharged tomorrow with the usual :have him see his primary within the week; for what? HELP please smhair

Hello Bengismom,

Welcome to HealingWell and to the Bipolar Forum. We are glad you found us, I hope you find the support you are looking for here.

I suggest you get a second opinion on his diagnosis, especially if it does not fit with his behavior/symptoms. I would suggest a Neurologist as SnowyLynne suggested. Please let us know how things turn up.

Thanks SnowyLynne and Olivia of course;

My husband left AMA, as they sent in a Psychiatrist who said Stress Induced Pseudoseizure. I returned him to the ER 8 hrs later, after another ?????????????. Dr there said, "Get him back to VA clinic and ask them to do sleep study for Apnea, this is not seizure activity, more like narcolepsy and coupled with psych problems may be causing this. Excuse me but........................While I am aware he probably does have Apnic periods, it doesn't explain loss of vision, hearing, the ability to speak in an understandable manner, inability to walk or use hands and arms for 30 minutes to 4 hours after these episodes. We are both on Disability, so our income is very limited therefore access to Doctors is also. I requested all the EVAC assessments for the trips to ER for these episodes and will pick up Monday, then head to the VA again. Maybe somebody will get so tired of seeing us, they'll do something. shakehead

Oh,
That's so frustrating. I'm so sorry this is happening for you. Do you need the recommendation of his doctor for specialists?

Serafena; Yes the VA primary must make an appt. with the Sleep Disorder Center 100+ miles from us. It could take weeks. AS my husband is not cooperative, it makes it harder.
