This is my introductory post. My partner is bipolar. I started reading this board 2 months ago when we were having a very hard time and I felt really alone. I read all of the past posts and it helped me A LOT. I developed a new understanding for the disease and the effects it can have on others.
I realised that I'm not alone and, in fact, I have it a lot easier than many BP spouses. My partner is willing to do whatever it takes to be well. She takes all her meds, she sees her pdoc twice monthly and her therapist 1-2times a week. She even started getting ECT (which, by the way is totally awesome and saved her life and our relationship). I told her about this forum and that I was giving her the "BP of the year award" for being so compliant and trying so hard.
I stopped reading the posts once we started doing better (of course, in hind sight, I think she was manic so things seemed better) and now she's depressed again and I'm alone, again. So, here I am. I hope to be a more consistent participant and I want to thank all of the other spouses/partners/significant others for all of their posts. Peace.
