I am in so much trouble with my husband right now that I am scared of what might happen to us. I have been on a spending spree and anyone who has ever been manic and had the internet to buy things or sighn up for credit cards knows what I mean I have applied for several cards and was approved and I have bought some stuff. Stuff that we need bath mats for our 3 baths and tennis shoes that I need despertly sheets and pillows a slip and slide. I dont think I need to go on there is alot more but my husband is an enabler just like me and at first he told me to send the stuff back but I pleated with him and he finaly gave in and said I could have the stuff as long as I pay it off before intrest sets in. I feel bad but at the same time it gives me a rush. If anyone can give me pointers on how to control this inpulse bying and please dont give me the advice of moving my furniture. I have in every room and I am still buying things because I notice more of what we need or want to make my house and myself look nice. Any input would be great.

Hi Slz,

My advise is the same as I gave you at chat night...Hand over all the credit cards to your husband, delete all of the accounts that are in your name and if you need these accounts, have your husband re-establish them with his new password.  This way, the only way you can purchase something you NEED is to have him log on with his new password and he will be aware of what you are purchasing.

You've already said that he is not working and you just lost your job and can not be working right now due to your health, so there is no way to be paying for all the stuff you are buying.  Making things look pretty will just have to wait until you can afford it.

When is the next time you see your doctor?  You need to let him know how serious things are going for you.

Sukay,

My husband is now back to work and I do have an income as of right now. Not trying to sound like I have and excuse but, I do have the means to pay for these things but i dont need them right now.  My pdr is well aware of what is going on he has made me and emergency appt for monday because I was in the hospital. You have a great point I have let my husband know that he needs to put new pass words on the accounts. I am also closing my credit card and will be sending back everything that I have order back to the store. I just feel bad for putting my husband in this situation. I need to learn that I can not get instant gratification.

Hi Slz,

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood.  I think I may have confused you with someone else.  I was thinking your husband was not working for a long time and you had just lost your job.  I'm bonkers!  eyes

I know you feel bad slz, but you did the right thing and you should be proud of that.  Realizing you have a problem is the first step.  Taking action to get help, like you did by getting your husband involved is the 2nd step.  You're doing a great job at catching yourself.

Keep up the good work, and I hope things get easier for you.
