I was just wondering if I should get tested for bipolar. for the past year i will feel depressed for a couple weeks. during that depression i feel worthless, lonely, and think about death alot. then for a couple weeks i am very happy, and feel confident and good about myself. during the depression stage i cant focus on my school work and it gets in the way of school. and when im happy i do very well in school. and it switches every couple of weeks. should i get tested? i hate feeling like this. can someone give me some advice i dont know where else to go? thank you

Hi bjm3590,

I honestly can't say if it's bipolar. It's neither consistent with or inconsistent with bipolar symptoms because bipolar has SO many different symptoms and they affect everyone differently. I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor. It's the only way to get a reliable diagnosis -- and I don't mean a gp -- I mean a psychiatrist. He/she will ask you a ton of questions, just do your best to answer them as honestly as you can, and hopefully you'll come out of there with a diagnosis wchich makes sense and a treatment which gets you on the road to improvement.

Good luck, and Keep us up to date,

Hello bjm,

I am definetely in agreement with Serafena here. You should go to the pdoc and have your symptoms checked out. Good luck and please keep us updated on how things go.
