I was diagnosed as Bipolar back in 2001. I have been through a lot of medication and doctors and finally have a mix that is working. For the past year I have felt something that I never had before... something as close to normal as you could call it.

I was adopted at a year old. My dad was married and had an affair with my mom (biological). She put me up for adoption and said I was my father's kid which in turn caused him to sue her for defamation of character. Finally he signed the papers.

When I was 4 my adopted mother died. A year later my adopted dad remarried.

I failed out of college and joined the army. I got kicked out for patterns of misconduct.

I spent awhile seriously self medicating before I came to a breaking point and moved back home and directly into the hospital.

Looking back I had been sick for a long time, probably since high school.

I am here to discuss the illness and get support when needed and to provide it where I can. My wife was on this forum among others during my most recent hospitalization which caused us to delay our marriage.

hello! it sounds like you had some hard knocks early in life, but it sounds like you have overcome alot. its a shame you were not able to get a diagnosis earlier , so some of your problems could have been averted. but now you sound very positive. welcome to this site. it sounds as if you will be able to help people just as they will be able to help you, when necessary.
