When my husband was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder, he was put on Neutontin and it was a miracle drug for him. Then he began to get used to it over time, and it was not as effective.
In time, his doctor (and subsequent new doctor) have added meds. He is now taking:
Neutontin, Trazadone, Seroquil, Wellbutrin SR and Xanax
He is so sleepy and disoriented, plus he is very grouchy. I feel that he is taking too much, because he is not in a good place. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi greyhound,

Both seroquel and Xanax can make a person sleepy. But your husband shouldn't be walking around sleepy and grouchy all the time. He should see his doc and get adjusted. I'm not sure he's on too much -- I'm no doc but I've been on more drugs at one time than that. I'm on 5 now. It's not uncommon. But if you doubt the doc's judgment, get a second opinion, definitely. He's seeing a psych, right?

Talk to your pdoc may need to tweak a little, I am on 6 different meds right now and finally starting to feel better, the meds are kind of like a guessing game, it takes time to find the right combo
