but does one day a mania make? I've had racing thoughts, can't sit still, feeling more 'flirty' with my online guy-friends and the urge to shop. But I know we can't afford it so I'm restraining myself. But it's just one day. Does it really mean anything? I mean, I'm allowed to have a good day, right? At what point should I worry? And by that point, is it too late to care? I have an appt with pdoc on Monday. I saw therapist today who strongly encouraged me to keep the appt (I have a habit of canceling appointments when I feel fine) and tell her how I feel. But then she'll put me on meds. And last time that happened, it made me suicidal. Any advice?

Stephanie,

No, one good day doesn't make mania, but ignoring it could. Definitely keep the appt. (cancelling apts is so classic.) She might try you on a different med -- there's lots out there -- and clearly you're swinging. Last week this time you were weeping in your soup, this week you're feeling sort of manic. A mood stabilizer can really help, and they don't all work like Lamictal. She'll know what to try next.

Hugs,

I did see my therapist today and she mentioned the pendulum. She said I'm swinging to the other side now and I need to talk to the pdoc. But I'm so scared of starting a new med and having an adverse reaction. I seem to have bad luck with meds.

Well, I skipped out on the pdoc appointment. I'm really feeling stable now. I had a couple days feeling kinda manic, but I feel great now. I had a lot of energy and got so much done around the house this weekend. Hubby even agreed I seem very stable (and he'd know). I just can't afford to take the time and money to go sit in her office for 5 minutes to hear it's all good and come back in a few weeks. I mean, I'm not even on meds through her.
