Hey everyone,
I'm 17, I really need some help as it's drivng me up the wall. I think I might be bipolar. I've been thinking this for a couple of years. I'm just so sick of my changing moods and they're getting severe. There are times when I'm on top of the world, I'm really hyped up and really optimistic and there's nothing that can stop me...then there are other days where I feel like I want to die...and sometimes it can be quite a quick change. Certain things can set me off. Some days I can be happy for a while, and then turn and have loads of miserable days. The miserable days are severe, it worries me. I just need someone's opinion on whether these are just the silly hormones of a teenage girl or something a bit more serious, because it's starting to tear me and other people around me apart...

Hi Holleee,

Whether or not you're bipolar, your mood changes aren't silly. It's terrible being at the mercy of your mood, something we can all relate to. If your miserable days are frequent and extreme, you should talk with a mental health professional or your doctor. Just get screened. It may be bipolar, it may be depression, but you'll feel better if you get treatment.

Under the "bipolar disorder resources" thread, you'll find links to sites which will tell you about bipolar disorder. They may help you think about whether or not you have it. But don't worry yourself sick. It's better to just get screened and find out for sure.

Good luck,
