Sometimes I can feel like it is a struggle just to pull myself out of bed and engage life.  Sometimes I get so distracted I don't get anything done.  I have noticed that it helps me to list all the things that I do in a day.  I break it down into little parts if I need to because sometimes each step of a chore needs it's own strenght of will.  If I need to break in between, then it needs it's own line in the list.

So, here is today (which was a decient day)
woke, showered, got kids up, got them moving in prep fpr church, went to church......

... sorry, my sleeping meds kicked in at just that moment last night and I fell asleep at the keybord.

.... set up snack table, drove friends and kids on a nice drive through a nearby state park and back home, collected food for lunch, back to park with firewood, cooked food over fire, cleaned up, and put out the fire.  Put kids to bed.

Not a lot of things, and no progress on the house- but I still got things done and it is nice to see it listed out.

i plan to pay on my christmas layaway today, and go to the gym.  Lets see if I can pull myself out of bed first.

What did you do today?

Hi Christina:

I have to make lists too. I've been getting overwhelmed very easily these past couple of weeks because so much has been going on, but making lists has definitely helped. That way I can cross things off the list if I need to. :-)

Yesterday I was SO depressed I was crying and completely out of energy, but I got it together enough to bake cookies and finish grading a class worth of papers that I'd been putting off for weeks. Today I'm feeling better and have already taught my two morning classes. I hope to do more grading today.

I second lists.  I have been writing more and more down lately and it really really does help. If for no other reason than it gives me  some direction.  And when i have a successful week it only adds to the positive reinforcement of a good week.

My lists get a bit obsessive.... I come up with things I need to make a list for.. and making the list goes on the list!

In the front of my day planner it says:
1. Wake up
2. Shower
3. Dress
4. Pills
5. Plan day.

I;ve been working on a 'Master list' and chore sheet that I can hang in the kitchen. I feel that being able to see what needs to be done, will help me choose 2 or 3 chores, and pick a hobby to work on for the day.

what a wonderful idea to keep a master list and pick from it!
I keep a weekly chore list on the kitchen wall (and also on the hallway wall across from the bathroom door) On it are most of the chores that need to be done regularly split up between the days of the week. I just look for the day that I am on and it gives me an idea of what I need to do that day. I also keep a dry erase board in both locations for adding things and leaving notes. I never get the list done, and seem to be on permanent catch-up, but it is there.

One of the things I got done today is that I washed every single utensil in our kitchen since I have had a mouse get in and I think it has been crawling on them. I put mousetraps in their place and I hope to be able to scrub the place and put my kitchen back together soon. All other chores have been halted to catch the mouse and scrub everywhere it has been! Eewwwww!

Yesterday was Veteran's Day (yay me! Yay my hubby and my dad and my little bro!) and I didn't know it till I went to the bank to cash a check so I could get groceries.  I went to my regular bank and it was closed.  I thought that was a little weird- so I drove accross town to the other location.  It was closed too.  That's when I figured it out.  I decided to borrow the money from a diffrent account and went to the store anyway.  I spent too long in the store because I kept forgetting what it was I needed to buy and where it was in the store.  I drove home and put together dinner (spagetti for 16) then drove it all to church.  By the time I was finished setting it all up and called everyone over to begin I had lost my appitite and only ate a few bites of salad.  Then I sat down with my small group and cried and cried because I am in a depressive state fulled by a mixed manic (just went to the PSY and that's what she called it)  I am soooo tired of being out of control and in pain all the time- but that is for another post.  Annyway, that's what I did today.  Most of it was spent in a brain fog, or I could have gotten this done in much less time.
