has anyone in here suffered from getting depressed from like the afternoon till the sun sets??  it happens to me every day.  i'm very curious as to others who have experienced this.  i feel good in the morning and once it gets dark at night but the whole afternoon transition from like 1:00 on is dark and irritating.

Hi Feeltherhythm  I suffer from what you described in your comments.  Mine starts about 3.00 pm and lasts till it's dark. I'm fine and happy during the day, then wham! it hits me every afternoon, especially in autumn. I've had a sunshine simulator sent over from the US, but that hasn't made too much difference.  I'm glad I'm not the only one - nobody seems to know what I'm talking about if I try to describe these feelings. honeysocks,

its interesting to find someone else who has experienced this.  Your the first one that i've ever met that knows what i'm talking about.  i have a SAD light too and it helps a little but doesn't seem to stop the overwhelming "darkness" or depression i feel.  The autumn is one of the worst times for me too.  It usually gets worse everyday after lunch which is why i wandered if it was started as soon as the sun was on the way down in the sky.  Right before dark is bad too but once it is dark for a while i feel better.  I am diagnosed bipolar and i wander how it is all related.  Do you go through this cycle every day too?  Do you ever find it hard to make decisions because of the different states of mind your in through out the day?  I can't really decide when i'm really me and when to make important decisions.

my name is jason and i live in orlando, Florida, in the United States.

Hi Jason

I don't have problems during the day with decisions, mood fluctuations etc, just that awful depression in the late afternoon, early evening.  I've been diagnosed with bipolar II, but cope really well at other times of the day.  Along with my prescribed medication, I've recently started taking fish oil capsules because they're supposed to be good for depression, so hopefully that will work for those afternoon blues. I'll let you know how I go.

My name is Jeanne and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
