I've taken two doses so far (Thurs. night and Fri. night). I feel fantastic. I cooked dinner last night (first time in years-my hubby always does this) and surprised him when he got home from work. And boy, was he blown away! I got up this morning and cleaned house, now I'm working on Christmas decorations. I'm definitely not manic, so it's not like tons of energy. I just feel GOOD. I don't have the urge to cut, don't feel like sitting around doing nothing, haven't been crying, etc.

Side effects: within 10 minutes of taking it, I get extremely drunk-feeling. I can't walk straight, keep my eyes open, room spins. I just take it at bedtime and go to sleep. Slight headache, but I get that with any new med for the first week or so. Numb tongue/lips for 10-20 minutes after taking. That's it. I can handle that! I SO hope this continues working this well.

Thank you all for convincing me to give meds another try.

Hi Stephanie:

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! Is it still working? How are you feeling today?

Even better today! Got all the Christmas presents wrapped and made a Christmas countdown calendar with my son (which is huge for me-I'm not crafty nor am I good about doing creative things with the kids). And I was talking to hubby and made a joke and he laughed and said, 'that's the funniest thing you've said in a LONG time!' He also told me I'm never stopping this medicine. LOL

So glad to hear you are feeling well.  I had PDoc appt on Friday and he added 5 mil in a.m. and 10 mil  p.m., so far that seems to work pretty well.  Couple tips here from a fellow Saphris user, when you put it under your tongue, put it toward the back of your mouth, not right under your tongue in the front, this makes your mouth feel less numb and also after the 10 minutes is up when you cannot eat or drink, try Gatorade, it really seems to neutralize that funny taste in your mouth.

Hope things continue to go well for you.

My new pDoc is talking about trying me on it, but she hasn't prescribed it to a patient yet, so I have to be willing to be her guinea pig.

Interesting side effects though

Interesting yes, really bothersome, NO.  I have been on all but 2 mood stabilizers and after having endured stomach aches, nausea, trembling and all the other ones I have forgetten, this med is really not bad at all.  Had a bit of trouble at start-up because it coinsided with a bad manic episode.  But overall, it is the best med I have been on.  Don't be afraid to try if you are having issues with other meds.

Four days in and still feeling fabulous! I love life and am enjoying every second. Also, the extreme sleepiness subsided and doesn't seem to affect me anymore. But I still get a great night of sound sleep. Thanks for the tip on putting it in the back. I thought I had to put it under my tongue, but it does make sense that as long as it's in my mouth, it shouldn't matter.

Started Saphris yesterday Friday, the taste is wretched and stayed all night!! Slept on and off and was fidgety all night. I've taken my dose tonight along with my 3mg dose of lunesta, for insomnia.... I can say the saphris feeling made we feel really weird and, yes maybe a it's a drunk feeling. Got to get rid of the wretched taste tho!!!

Hello Tonya418,
