Hi All,
Just occurred to me to ask. Fiance has been complaining of short term memory loss ever since he has been on Lithium. He's doing really well and remembers stuff when it comes to stuff he's told me etc but keeps saying work is hard because he gets asked to do something and the next moment he's trying to take in and remember what he was just told to do and is moaning that it takes him longer than others to do his job.
With me he seems fine, ocasionally daydreams off somewhere (but then he always did - years before the meds) Personally I assumed he has just lost confidence - in this climate, if he really was struggling at work I would have thought he would have been in the redundancy lot but they bent over backwards to keep him and he's really concientious so I just think perhaps he's being too hard on himself.
Anyone else experienced this, be good to know if it is a side effect? He's been taking it for at least 6months... possibly longer, I cant remember. If it is, does it get better over time as the meds are reduced?
Thanks all!

Could be a side effect -- they're different for everyone. Memory loss is a common complaint for people in the midst of manic or depressed cycles as well. Either way, he should definitely bring it up with his doc. Some side effects disappear with time, others appear after someone's taken a med for a long time. In any case, with lithium, he should be having his blood levels checked regularly.

Thanks - he does have blood tests reguarly and I guess I'll remind him at the next one to bring it up again with his doc and see what they say.
