Hi.  Does anybody ever hear things that aren't really making any sounds?
I have had bipolar disorder for over 10 years.  I was hospitalized with depression last month and I am still working towards being stable.  I am very frightened, because I have been hearing things and I know that they're hallucinations, but it's never happened to me before.
I saw my counselor last Thursday and told him about my hearing things.  At work, I could hear voices through my telephone.  They were very soft and I couldn't understand what was being said, just knew I was hearing things.  I would even lift the receiver to make sure that nobody was there.
This weekend has been frustrating, too.  I am hearing things, but not really hearing them.  I am afraid and am going to call my counselor in the morning.

Hi Butterfly,

I am glad that you are going to call your counselor in the morning. Make sure that you follow through with that. In the meantime, remember that they aren't really there and try not to be afraid. My sister had hallucinations while taking some kind of med, and I can't remember what it was. She would see things though. But my mother heard voices when she was alive. She was a schitzophrenic.

I hope that you are able to relax, and remember to call your counselor in the morning. If it gets too bad, make an emergency call to somebody.

Hugs, Karen

Rspeically in the past year I have heard voices and heard things that were not happening. At first it really scared me and I drove my family nuts by constantly asking them if they heard "that". Finally I was able to just say not to worry it was just a hallucination. HOWEVER, do call you counselor for sure. Your meds might need adjusting or whatever. It is so important to report stuff like this to a professional. You should not have to suffer with this alone.
