Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you guys know that the doctors are fairly certain that my Mom has cancer and they believe that it started in her lungs. They are seeing her today to start radiation on the tumor in her hip. She will be getting another biopsy done on her lungs.

I just found out last night so I am trying to keep it together. She is coming to the Cancer Clinic in the hospital where I work this morning so I am going to go be with her.

Bf has been amazing and my friends too.

I am terrified. My mind still seems to drift to the worse possible scenario. Contacted pdoc a few days ago b/c I am no longer sleeping (4 hours of interrupted sleep at night) so I hope to be getting in to see him next week.

I will be checking in this weekend for sure. Thanks for your support, love to you all. I hope you are all coping well today.

Hugs, Mogs

Mogs,

Is your mom part of your support system?  Do you need to rework your support system?  At some point, your mother will die.  We all will.  If she dies before you, you will need all the support you can possibly get!  If your mom is a big part of your support system, you will be especially devestated if she dies before you do.

Make sure that YOU are taken care of.  Your mom LOVES you and is concerned about you.  She wants you to be OK if she dies.  She is SO worried about YOU!  Take care of yourself.  Reach out to your friends, your church, your Dr's, your penpals and us.

Then take care of your mom.  Tell her and show her how much you love her.  If she does die, you will have given her the best thing possible - knowing that she is loved and that you will be safe in life without her.

1 more thing that might help you cope now and in the future.  Get a pet together with your mom.  It can be a tremendous comfort to both of you.  And if your mom does die before you, holding that pet is a POWERFUL tool in grieving.

I hope it doesn't end that way, but I agree with PP:  Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Please keep us posted on both you and your mom.  (((hug)))

Thank you Tortoise.

We are going to wait and see what the oncologist says. That "stage 4" news came from the radiation therpist who is going to be giving her the radiation treatments, so I shouldn't have posted this until the oncologist appointment AND they still have to do the biopsy. I was just terrified when I posted, but now I am NOT focusing on losing her. The word "die" is something I simply can't read right now, it's way too much. But I know you are being supportive.

Talk soon,

Mogs.

I am so sorry Mogs. Just remember in your heart that cancer is not always a death sentence. Scary to deal with and go through....but definitely do-able. (((hugs)))
