Hi everyone,  I am new to the forum, but not to having bipolar.  I have had it for about 6 years.  Really i think i have had it since i was about 12 yeas old.  I won't mention what else I have here, because it would take up too much of a page.  I wanted to know had this happened to anyone else.  I finally talked my doctor to letting me get of off depokote because it was my stomach hurt for the last 4 years.  I was on 3000mg per day.  She put me on Lamictal 300 mg and it is not doing a thing.  Now I wish i was back on depakote.  She also presciped ambien (the gernic kind).  Does anybody like ambien?  I will always consult my doctor about my meds but a was wondering has anybody had my experiences?

Lamictal takes awhile to work.  I was on depakote, too and switched to Lamictal and personally I like it; howvever, It is my understanding it can be increased at only a bit at a time so possibly you are not on the therpuetic dose yet?? Let you doc know how you feel.  Ambien of course is a sleeping pill.  When I took it, I was groggy in the morning.  You really need a full 8 hours sleep for it to be out of your system when you wake up.  Good luck...sometimes it takes awhile to get on the right combo of drugs and you have to be patient (yeah, right!!)

Welcome. I worked with my doctor to get me off one antidepressant and reduce my mania meds to half. Its so nice when you have a doctor who is willing to work with you to get your meds adjusted right.
