This is how I feel about it: blush confused cry idea mad sad nono shakehead :-) :-) smilewinkgrin tongue yeah

I don't know how I feel about it. But I've really missed having him around. He's the perfect partner in the sense that he knows everything about bipolar and he holds me when I'm sad and doesn't blame me for my moods and can take care of me. However a lot of the time we were dating I would switch into this awful angry person and accuse him of all sorts of things that would escalate into physical fights (I would slap him or hit him)..

I know this time around he wants it to work and I do too and I'm on medication now and I don't turn into this awful monster but even so he said he wanted me to send him any information I could about bipolar disorder and making relationships work. I don't think it's going to be as hard this time because of the medication but I picked up a copy of Loving Someone With Bipolar Disorder because I've flipped through it before at the bookstore and I think it could be helpful. I'm going to read through it myself and make notes and then send it to my boyfriend (we're in separate places right now for the summer so I won't see him for two months)

Do you think the making notes in the book idea is stupid? or will it be helpful? does anyone have any links that would also be helpful for him to read?

Hmmmm....in some ways I don't know about you two either, but people can always change and it sounds like you are both serious about doing everything you can to make sure this time is different and healthier, so I am all for that part! And I hope it all works so you can be together and love each other in all the right ways.

Great book to buy. I have it at home and my bf has never read it. LOL, and yet no so funny.....I would make notes; and as far as links he could search the net all day! But the links through the resources here on this site are useful.

I think too if I were in your shoes I would make a list of your symptoms, past issues that existed in your relationship and what helps vs does not help in those situations. It sounds like he knows how to comfort you which is a huge thing!

I wish you all the best and let us know if there is anything else we can do to help :-)

Yes, i am glad for you also, but be careful. Relationships are had enough when you are young but throwing BP into the mix will make it tougher.

I think that making notes in the book for him would be  a great idea. Not everything in the book applies to all of us. Example, i have never had any issues with gambling, alchol, or drugs. So for someone new to me to read that in a book would be a complete waste of time.  And it will take time and mistakes to get this right. So dont be surprised that you may fail at first. However if you get up, dust your self off, and learn from your mistakes, you will be that much closer to a successful relationship that will help you out.

Wisdom, as you know, isnt exactly about getting smarter as you get older. Its more to do with having been on this earth long enough to make just about every mistake you can. LOL LOL LOL  True Wisdom comes from learning from those mistakes and doing your best not to make them again.

  Good luck.
