I've been struggling through a rippin' depression of late and
praying every day that I could make it through another work
day. I was at a senior living home and the morale and negativity
were oppressive...couple that with hard work, (caregiver) and low pay
and it was a recipe for depression.

So I took a leave of absence to try and recuperate. I got on new meds,
going to the gym every day, cleaning, cooking...all the things I neglected
before I have energy to do now. I've been so happy and stable that
I decided to terminate my employment permanently because it was a trigger
for getting ill. No job is worth losing my health over.

AMEN to that, no job is worth your health (mental and physical).  Going to the gym is also a great idea. Now you just need to find something that interests you.

Last year i took a job that was completely outside my comfort zone, and after a month there started to like it, and after a year there am wildly successful and love the work.  Some times you have to take a chance.

I will never forget the night I walked out of the last call center I will ever work in. I had been attendng a support group at the hospital for my bipolar and the group helped me realize that I needed to leave in order to save myself from living a daily nightmare with high level toxic stress.

I took a huge risk, went back to school with government funding due to my illness and now I am at the hospital. This job has its days as well, but I am so thankful I took that risk.

So, huge congratulations to you yeah It takes a lot of courage and strength to not only realize your situation but to make the necessary change in your life! I wish you all the best in choosing your next step wink

Thanks for the encouragement Mogli. It's been hard
for me to accept my limitations as well as to applaud my
strengths. Wow I didn't know that until I wrote it.

Good for you for having to courage to make that career
change. And yes, I know every job has its ups and downs but
when every day is bad it's time to face reality and make that change.

Thanks again for your positive reinforcement...

Congratulations! You did the right thing! No one should stay at a soul-sucking job, and you were wise to get away from yours. Good for you!
