I decided to combat my 'seeming lack of creativity due to meds'
and force myself to write.

Guess what? It worked!!! I just had to make myself do it. I have
written 5 new poems...first time in 6 months. I went through a dry
period, that's all...every artist I know goes through periods of
heightened creativity followed by the blahs...sounds like Bipolar huh ?

Question??? How do you or did you express your creativity...what medium
and where are you with it now???

We Bipolars are creative people...that's one of the good things that goes
with this disease...lets talk about it!!!

I do pencil drawing - portraits.

I think my creativity shows up in the sheer volume and variety of my hobbies.  dog training, rabbit husbandry, skeleton articulation, sewing, drawing, home maintenance, fishing, gardening....  I could go on and on!

I do knitting, hand spinning of yarn, dyeing yarn and fiber, needlepoint. I was selling my stuff--clothing, shawls, scarves, dolls, purses, all pretty funky--through some galleries, when the economy went downhill. Now I've got some of my stuff on Etsy, tryin' to sell it that way. I haven't felt at all creative and have done very little fiber art for the past couple of months, though. about the only time I work on my fiber art is when I go to my weekly knitting group, for which I'm the "go-to" person. My creativity seems currently to've dried up.

havana - my rabbits are angoras for their wool.  I have tried spinning their wool and knitting with it - relaxing, but I don't have patience for it!  I sell on Etsy to when the mood strikes, lol.  I like Etsy because the listing times are so long.  I could do better if I babysat my shop and worked at it...  but I have this bp thing that makes it hard.  :)

You know, when i had my major mania episode a few weeks ago i felt the old compulsions coming back again hard. Both the good ones (wanting to create) and the bad ones (wanting to cheat). I can honestly say i am glad they are mostly out of my life now. Right now my life is way to busy to create, working as i do between 80-90 hour weeks. However i have felt the stirrings in my heart to create again. It will just have to wait until i have the time and energy to put toward it.
However i am very happy that you found it in yourself to create. Great job. Honestly a success by one of us is a success for all of us.
  Keep posting.

I know what you mean about "The Bell Jar." I was very affected by it and was in a weird
place for a week after I finished it. My 10th grader was reading it in English and passed it
on to me. Otherwise I never would have known about it...boy was it heavy. I have a Pablo
Neruda book...I haven't read it yet...maybe I'll read it next. Who wrote "The Unquiet Mind,"
was it Jamison?
