This morning, I walked my dog. It was blazingly hot, and when I got home, I lay down to take a nap. The next thing I knew, it was about 5 p.m.! I couldn't believe I'd slept that long!

I had a "date" with my estranged spouse (yep, it's pretty weird to be going out on platonic dates with the spouse you're separated from, but that's my life  ;-)  ) this evening to play Scrabble at a local coffee house; they have Scrabble night every Friday night, and we usually are there every Friday evening. I met him over there, and we had a good time, even though I lost.  ;-(

Not only that: One of the really nice barristas at the coffee shop had offered to show me how to register for classes, once my "window" for course registration opens up. (She told me that she hadn't known how to register, but that someone taught her. She wants to pass this forward, and she hopes I'll teach someone how to register. It just blows me away that one gets absolutely no guidance from a university on how to register every semester, but evidently, that's the way things go.) So, we hooked up to the WiFi, and she showed me, step by step, how to go about this. What a tremendous help! Now I hope that I'll be able to help somebody else.

This is probably the best time I've had in the past while, and I felt SO grateful to actually ENJOY something that I wanted to tell you folks about it. How wonderful it's been to have even the tiniest break in the baaaaaaaaaaaad depression.

Thanks for being there.

Red Lightening asked what classes I'll be taking. I don't have a lot of choices in the first semster of the master's in social work program. I have to take four out of five required courses. They all have titles that don't tell you much about them: Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Policies and Programs in Social Services, Social Work Practice, Social Work Research, Theories and Models of Social Work Practice.

The course descriptions aren't much of a help, either. Every profession, of course, has its own jargon, and social work is no exception. So, I read the descriptions and shake my head and realize that whatever courses I can get that somehow fit into my schedule will be just fine. ;-)

I also need to work ten hours per week for a professor to fulfill my graduate assistantship, so I have to fit that in somewhere. The grad assistantship pays for most of my tuition, except for some mysterious fees and for books.

I'm still fighting with the state's Vocational Rehabilitation to see if they'll pay the fees and for the books. Keep your fingers crossed! Money is something I don't have much of.
