Hey caren, how you doing? Lonlieness is the human condition, and that of some of our companion animals also. Tell me a dog doesnt get lonely also.  Havve you thought about a dog to help ease  your burden? I can tell you having mine in my life this last year has been both a godsend and an enlightment. He has become such a big, important part of my daily life. And the greeting when i get home at night is just the best thing ever.

Just a thought for you, Bill
