Okay, I'm bipolar and I know I am. But I'm in the process of diagnosis. I've been manic for a few months now, so OBVIOUSLY I am prone to doing stupid/illegal things.

I'm sick of how long its taking for me to get diagnosed/get meds. Because I am ****ing ruining my life and I know it. I heard that one way to see if you're bipolar is to take antidepressants and see if it triggers mania (STUPID, I KNOW). I broke into a caravan, stole meds which just happened to be Zoloft and took them. There were 3 left, I took one each day. By the 2nd day I was hallucinating non stop. All kind of hallunciations; visual, smell, touch, hearing things...I've NEVER been that bad before. It was like a dream! I was also speaking so fast that no one could understand me, etc etc etc. I'm still manic now, but not THAT bad.

So far I haven't told my psych. I just want to know, is this a sign that I'm definitely bipolar? Because I'm not sure whether to tell him or not...

Manic episodes induced by medication do not count towards the diagnostic criteria of BP. As far as a diganosis, you've learned nothing.

I thought you had to be on anti depressants for at least a few weeks before they had any effect or trigger... not one dose.

In 2006 i was admitted to the hospital with hallucinations... I was taking anti-depressants. the p-doc there said I should stop taking the anti-depressants as bipolars get halluncinations. while taking them . i was diangnosed with bipolar and given zyprexa. which has worked all these years since.......

Antidepressants trigger hypomania for me in ONE DOSE, and after 2 weeks, I'm manic.  Coming off it I start ultraradian cycling and getting mixed episodes.

Not all bipolars get severe effects from anti-depressants and many have them in their "drug cocktail."

oh wow, i didn't realize one dose could have such harmful effects. i was on effexor and prozac for years with absolutely no change in my mood.

I'm a little abnormal for the time it takes for a medication to affect me, so no worries. :D

Prednisone induced mania in me after 1 dose, too.
