Has any one heard of Overmethylation?  I have been reading a book on BP that mentions that Overmethylation can be a partial cause of BP.  It has something to do with low Histamine levels and can be managed by vitamins and minerals.

I have not had my histamine levels tested as my GP thinks Overmethylation and any treatment of BP by vitamins is too alternative to modern medicine. I have only a mild form of BP, but am sick of taking medications that have side effects, and am looking for any alternative.

Does anyone know anything about this or had there histamine levels tested?

I am trying to work out if it is worth while trying to get my histamine levels tested elsewhere - or is it pointless.

Yes, I read a great book called The Natural Guide To Bipolar disorder, by Stephanie Mahron (at Borders). She mentions all kinds of natural treatments...I use 2 T liquid lecithin 2X/day, 1 g L-glutamin 3x/day, 200 mg chromium 3X a day, 1 g fish oil 3x/day, 50mg b-complex 3 x/day plus a regular vitamin. I also eat low carb--this regime has worked a miracle for me. GET THIS BOOK.

Thanks maybes69

Do you take the daily multivitamin, and if so what brand.  I started taking swisse a while ago only to find that it can send me into wirlwind.  I am not sure if it is the mix of vitamins, the green tea or the time of day I was taking it, so now I only take it if I need a pick me up and it works a treat, but I would like to take one on a regular basis.

My new years resolution is to cut out tea and coffee and refined foods.  I was off to a good start, but the flooding in QLD and working 13hr days has since nocked me off track (my adrenaline really started to kick in and took a week to come down).  I was starting to feel a little better for doing it. So it is time to start again.

I will deffinately get the book ( I know where there is a boarders not to far from me).  I am currently reading Healing Depression and BP without drugs by Gracelyn Guyol, and it has given me a lot of things to think about. idea
Many thanks for your help.

I just take a generic vitamin-- medicine shoppe brand--just take any that has folic acid--also MAKE SURE ALL YOUR BEVERAGES ARE DECAF. I drink 3 cups green tea, no prob...if it's decaf. Oh, I also take 200 mg magnesium and 400 IU vitamin E--once in morning...I think the diet (low carb) really, really helps stabilze your blood sugars and moods...I'm a believer now!
Glad your getting the book--it's really awesome.

Good luck!
