Hi. I am 26 yrs old and married my college sweet heart. We first met in one of our classes. She came after me and was very persistent. I am shy and she is somewhat outgoing. Well, I found out that she was going through alot of stuff in her life and she was resorting to partying. One night she called my apartment and said that she needed a place to stay. I agreed that it was ok and I took car of her all night. After that we became really close friends and then started dating. She did admit that she had a problem with drinking and we even attend an AA meeting. Once we left that we laughed and said yes she did have a problem but not that severe. We focused on each other and just stayed away from that type of life style. She got better and we were get. We continued to date, finished college, and then moved in together. We had our ups/downs like any couple but for the most part we were a great match. In Dec of 2003 I asked her to marry me. She said yes and we planned on getting married this June. Well, last summer our lease was up on our apartment and we decided that we wanted to buy a house. Well, her parents had saved up money for her and her husband to be for a wedding/house but she had to be married. After seeing how much my sister(and my parents) paid for her wedding her and I agreed that we should have a small wedding and put the money into a house. So in September we got married, bought a house and were living the life! Everything was great. Then in Oct I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. No problem though. She was very supportive and I am now doing well. Oct,Dec, and Jan past and everything was great. We had plans to try to have kids this summer, go on vacation, and then go away for Xmas. Well, then it started. She was depressed, hated work, hated the people at work, wasn't getting alone with her parents and then she told me she was going to get her tongue pierced. I told her I didn't respect that and I know that was a fault on my part but I was just worried were this was coming from. Anyway she did it and I was fine in a few days. Then she went from not socializing with the people at work to going out about 3 or 4 times a week. Sometimes not coming home at night because she was so drunk. This has gone on for 4 months. Up and down. At times she is the women that I date and married(known for 5 yrs) and other times she is someone completely different. She finnally admitted that she needs help with depression and is know on Lexapro. Then two days later she said we are done and we will never be again. She had the locks changed on the house even though it is both of our names and is just not herself. Anyway, I have so much more to write but this is a starte. Any ideas? Is it possible that it just took her 5 years to figure out that we are to be together or is it depression. or maybe bipolar? Help. sad

Hey lmw,

I really sorry to hear about your hardships. This definately sounds like a classic case of bipolar and she needs to be treated. I don't know where to even tell you to start. But maybe start educating yourself on bipolar and maybe talking to her family.

I hope things start turning around for you, I know this must be so hard :(
