hey Nickie, I was wondering about you, hadn't seen you in awhile! (that said, I haven't been here much). How's school?

We just got thru three dinners (big family), yummy. However, I am sick b/c of people coming to school sicker than dogs, b/c you lose marks if you don't might I add (the nursing profession is screwed up sometimes!) sO dinners were less enjoyable than normal. That said, I didn't eat a lot so I did not gain back the weight I just lost! (Darn zyprexa!)

School-all we do is write papers. I can't remember how to give an inj, catheter, , NG tube, arrrgh! but I can write a great paper-should come in handy for my final clinical (not!) No, seriously I like to write and I love community nursing so it fits. I despise hospital nursing, excluding psych that is. I don't know how you deal with surgeons, everyone has told me so many nasty stories! Is that part of your training? Hope so. We are taking a management and leadership course, I love it!Tells us how to speak to snippy staff etc. That said, I have never had a Dr be rude to me, all very kind.

Anyhow, gotta go research for another paper (post partum depression, interesting stuff, and yes I am mentioning Tom Cruise!) Take care, talk to ya soon!

Gonna sound real bad if I get this wrong but I think Thanksgiving is November 25! School is going as it should stressful, but I love what I do , so it makes all the difference in the world. That's why I am not on much anymore. Getting closer to mock surgery. Lots of tests , quizzes and return demonstrations. We really have o paperwork, which is good , because that is one of the reasons I left nursing. Oh yeah and the hospitals... ugh. Surgery is a whole different world. I see patients , but rarely do they know I am there. Even if they wake up during a case, anesthia gets pumped right in. So they don't even know that I am there. I love to see all the different types of surgery. Surgeons are stiff and strict , but they have to be. We only get one chance in the OR to save or help this person. Timing and quality is key. Our big situation is reducing infection and providing excellent pt. care. When it's all said and done , everyone thanks everyone, it's stressful and every team member must work together. Surgeons are stressed , just as we are. We feel the pressure as well, because we are assisting. The nurses are worse, and where we are, if they come from another floor we train them. ( Upon graduation I will anyways). I know how ya feel about coming in if your sick, we also gets marks and can get kicked out of the program. We are allowed to miss only 2 days of clinics. So yeah , when were sick , it seems we all get sick. LOL  Glad to know you will be mentioning Tom Cruise and hopefully the practice of Scientology. Did you know his girlfriend grew up near me, and Katie's parents still have the house she grew up in. It's a gorgeous home. She was known to be snotty in her area even a long time ago. Thats' funny. Halloween is coming upon me quicker than I anticipated. my daughter has her party here Friday. It's early, but I wanted to get it outta the way. Ahhhh... 20 kids under the age of 8, all at my house. Yikes!!! Hehe.. Well good luck to ya Shannon, nice to chat with ya. Sincerely , Nickie
