Hi all,

I have had both good and not so good experiences with this drug. The first time I took it was a number of years ago. It was a small dose, maybe .5mg for about 2 weeks and it did wounders for me. Helped me relax and get focused again. A few years later I was experience depression/anxiety and some hypomania and tried it up to 2mg dose and it didnt seem to be very helpful. One thing I really didnt like about it was my hands were really shaky. People would comment on my hands being so shaky.

I would like to hear about other peoples experiences with this medication, good and bad. I am considering going back in it in the next few days. Please let me know what you think of this drug and how it effected you. Thanks.

Okay I was only on it for a real quick time, actually they gave it to me at the hospital. So I really can't be of much help, because I didn't take it after the fact. I am pretty sure Shannon (pyschnurse), takes or did take this med. I am sure she will respond. She is a nurse, so maybe she can help more. I know about the shaky thing.I had that with some of my meds. It was really quite embarassing. I can't have anything like that at all, due to my pursuing career. I will be working in the OR, defo. not good. What current meds o you take, are you off of it and want to go back on? Are you dx Bipolar? If so what type ? I am kinda nosy, you don't have to tell me , I am just curious. Sorry I can't be of much help here.

I was taking it for several months and they took me off it due to my pregnancy. Big no-no for pregnant women. I MISS my Klonopin so much. That calmed me when nothing else would. I have big ugly panic attacks and that really helped me alot. I sure could use one now. I took a small dose. .5 twice a day. Ahhh....to be calm again. Good luck with it

I was on Clonazepam for almost 2 years.  My dosage was .50 mg  4 times per day.

I am now on 1mg of Xanax (up to 3 times per day) and I must say, it does work better for me.

Hi, Palefire

I have taken it on/off for years, when I got stable, i didn't need it anymore, but lately I started having problems (fall!) and I can't sleep well lately so I started taking 1mg at bedtime, it helps some, but geez I take an arsenal of meds!   6!

I never got the shaking hands thing, but my hands always shook terribly when I was manic for so many years, I couldn't even write!

As we all know, different meds affect people in different ways.  Maybe something else like Xanax or Ativan would work better, ask your doc what else he could try if it doesn't agree with you again.  But remember, EVERY medicine has side effects, the decision to make is what you can live with and what you can't vs. the benefit.

I have just been recerntly put on it, and my zoloft upped, cant say I am bipolar or not, but have severe depression, and anxiety. the upped zoloft is helping with depression but I doint feel the klonipin is helping as much as i would like it to, I had shaly hands before the klonipin(clonazepam), but that could be the zoloft or not, been shaling so long I cant remember, my legs too. I may switch to the xanax as Deb has, as the phychiatrist had asked me if I wanted to try the clonzepam or the xanax and I went with the clonezepam, but feel maybe the xanax would do me better, wont know until I try, the clonezapam does not knock me out a all, it takes the edge off a little, but I am still quite anxious.
Both my children are bipolar,a nd adhd, which would stand to think that I may be too, my daughter also has tourettes and is mildy autistic.
By the way Shannon (phychnurse), my son is now on deokote and is doing 100% better, but it wasnt an easy task, given the lack of support I have, but where thereis a will there is a way. Daughter will see phych on monday, its taken almost a year to find her a new one due to insuracne, she will probaly be taken off the geodon and put on depakote as well, I have been told by 3 differetnt docs to put he on it, but have been scared she is only 6, and its hard, but geodon isnt any safer the depakote. and truthfully the depakote will probably help her more.
Sorry Plaefire back to the clonezrpam, it seems it works great for some, so if it works for you stick with it, if not speak to your doc about something else that may help, as that is what I am going to do next appt. Good luck, I hope you find somehtng that works for you......

Hi, jk, I'm soooo glad your son is better!  I'm sure you are too!

I hope you can get it worked out for yourself, if you aren't well, it's hard to take care of other people.  We'll just see about the combo for your daughter, it may help.

Be well,
Shannon

When I am feeling aggressive and like everything sets me off, I love clonazapem/klonopin. Just 1 mg keps me functioning but takes the edge off. It works fairly quickly and lasts...
