Have posted origainlly in anxiety forum but am posting in Bipolar and depression as well, need as much advice and thoughts and support as possible plz respond with ANY thoughts.

scool  hve been taking zoloft almost two years now, it helps somewhat with depression, but not with anxiety, thats why I am on the klonipin which really is not helping, he said no to xananx, rebound to bad on it, so I am thinking ativan, not been dx with, but really think I have restless leg syndrome, i drive everyone nuts with my legs shakes while I sit, walk helps til feet go numb. Anyway before the zoloft I was on nothing for about a year that was horrible, than I tryed one of those clinical studies, and they tryed a bunch on me, none helped, and prior to that year I was on prozac for two years, it did help with anxiety, and depression, but what I did not like about it was it made me tired and somewhat unmotivated, but it helped with OCD anxity, depression, I always took my dose in the am as thats what I was told to do, now what if i were to switch back to prozac after 4 years now of not being on it, and take it at night, would that make a difference, it made me want to sleep, so taking it at night would help me sleep. I go back next week or so I think, besdies its cheaper, but i dont want to make a mistake, I know some meds work differenly for some than others, but I would still like others thoughts, and opions and advice please!! I am thinking about asking him if we can go with the prozac at night and ativan combo day, kloinpon doesnt make me tired, and thats not what I am shooting for any way, I need anxiety releif desperatly. is the rebound on the ativan bad if taking three times a day, as I am with the klonipin, even with the triple doe of it he has me on , I feel like I am on a placebo, I cannot afford the xnax extened, insurance doesnt cover very much co-pay high, so i have to stay generic., Ok then any thoughts please I am goign topost in other forums and hope I get some responses, thanks!!!.... smurf

Hey Sheryl,

I think you are going to experience the same with ativan as you do with klonopin.  As the differences among them are not as drastic as the SSRIs.  If you like the prozac and it worked good for you then I think that would be great.  You can take it whenever you like before bed or in the morning.

Another thought is Paxil (which comes generic now).  And has definate uses with anxiety.

They all have there good and there bad points.

Take care sweetie.

Prozac - it made me blurry (blurred vision) so was not on it long.

Klonopin - it worked great for anxiety and calm/sleep, until they said I had to go off of it which took me months of slowing it down as it is habit forming due to it being addictive. Lorazepam works better. Go with meds that are not addicting!

Paxil worked better sure, but had to go off that trouble talking/walking got worse.

You should be able to get some of those by samples from your psychiatrist just ask them for them.

Tryed the paxil made me sick as a dog, I know Prozac workd for me, just made me tired, but always took in the am, thinking if took around 3 or pm by the time bed came the tiredness would be good do I can sleep, the zoloft make me too anxious, so defiantley tale in the morning, but just never thought four years ago to not take the prozac in the morning??? So lorazapam you think it better, I wonder if he will presribe, how is it as far as staying in your system, klonipin to me is like taking a sugar pill, and he tripled my dose, and I dotn thinks it a tolerance thing havent been on long neough for that, and it hasnt worked since the get go. Thinking mught bite the bullet and ask for samples of the xanax extended release he said he would presribe that as it lasted longer in system, but would not prescribe the reg xanax, becasue not last long enough in system, my problem is I cant afford, but if I dropped teh zoloft at 30.00 to 8 for prozac, maybe I good swing the extra money for the 60.00 copay on the xanax extended release, I shall ask for samples, and see waht he says, have you heard of celexa, its now generic, I was on lexapro a short while a couple years back for a couple months, it was ok, biut agin made me too tired, but i didnt think to take later inthe day always the moring, I knowhte celexa is relted to the lexapro, I dont know just need releif from depressin and costant anxiety. thanks for you help, I shall see what doc says next thursday when I go, thanks agin, will let you know what he says..

Klonopin is hard to wean off of, and you'd have to be off of Klonopin I believe to go on another anti-anxiety such as Lorazepam. Don't take any more than you really do need, as the meds may make ya real sleepy, and some have side effects.

Have some of you thought of or do you take Vitamins such as Vitamin C and Vitamin B's, and Omega 3's (Fish Oils), as that is supposedly good for Bipolar as well as Schizophrenia - reading a good book now on Nutrition and Mental Health, and Caffeine is not good, and too many carbohydrates are not good either, Cheese is not good either at least that was for the Schizophrenia's I don't know if that means the rest of us or not. But anyways, always of course check with your doctors to see if the healthy ways go with your medications. We may be lacking Vitamins or need more vitamins than other people do. Vitamins should be good for anyone.
