Hi, I new at this so please bare with me.  My husband of 17 years is bipolar he has good and bad times just like everyone else.  More bad than good we were told of his illness about 10 years ago.  I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble with this new medicare prescription drug plan we were told no more assistants with meds throught MHMR because of this.  One of the meds my husband is on cost over 900.00 monthly and he is on about 6 different meds.  How do they(goverment) think we are going to keep our loved ones on meds if we can't pay for them.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was in your situation a couple of months ago. One of my scripts is over 400.00 monthly and there was just no way this was going to happen. It turns out that the drug companies themselves actually offer assistance sometimes. I saw something on TV with Montel? (maybe) in the ad about that. I got lucky(LOL!) to be just under the limit for medicaid, and in my state let me tell you it's darned low. Sad when you have to be happy to be poor enough to stay well. Mine is actually covered. You might look into that.
My mother has glaucoma and is living on social security, they won't cover her scripts either. She only brings in under 700.00 a month and they yanked her medicaid because she makes too much. Now shes dealing with medicare and her worker keeps telling her they will cover her drugs but they charge her hundreds a month in scripts and she has maxed all her credit cards. Soon she won't be able to do it and I can't help her.
Sorry I couldn't be of any help. But welcome to healingwell, its quite possible that later someone will post with a solution to both our problems :) .
Take Care

Thank you so much for your help.  I will let you know if I find any help out there.  On a different subject my husband is a very wonderful man stays home and takes care of our 3 year old son is a wonderful dad but needs someone that understands his problems to talk to and he doesn't do computers how can I get him to talk to everyone.  He is so funny and would be a good person for others to talk to.  He is a group facilator with MHMR and knows alot about this illness and the meds that go along with it.  He has been in about 5 different hospitals in the last 10 years and countless med changes I think if he would just talk to everyones he may find more information out there and he may be able to help someone else also.

Thanks again for the information,

I'm not sure other than logging on and pointing him at the comp. I'm a stay at home mom with 4 kids still at home. I know what it's like to be home all day. My youngest is 2 1/2.
It sound's as though he'd be a huge asset to the forum, we'd certainly love to have him. Everyone is always welcome.
Take care and have a great day!
