I was just wondering if anyone else has had panic attacks associated with Abilify?  I'm only on 10 mg (a relatively low dose) and am having enormous panic attacks.
The pdoc said I could drop it down to 5 mg but he'd never heard of that low a dose being therapeudic for anyone.  I just threw in the towel and stopped it entirely.  It was working so well for awhile but it seems that as it built up in my bloodstream the panic attacks became so severe that for the last couple of weeks I've barely been able to leave my house.  The terror became too much for me and I discontinued the medication.
I'm still having the p/a's.  I guess it will take some time to work itself out of my system.  Thank God for Klonopin.

I have never heard of that medicine but I am sure someone on here will probably be able to help you! You have been such a help to everyone else and I hope that you find the info you need! I also hope that your panic attacks stop so you can feel like your normal self, it probably will take a while but hopefully not too long!

Hi Ellie,

Anxiety is listed as one of the side effects of Abilify.  Why they would make a bipolar drug with anxiety as a side effect is beyond me.

I was on Abilify for a short while about three years ago.  I did experience anxiety with this drug.  I was with my sister and my anxiety was so bad that she insisted I call the doctor right away.  My sister ended up going with me to the appointment.  The doctor did say that the Abilify can cause anxiety.  He decided to take me off of the Abilify.  Once I stopped taking Abilify the anxiety went away.
