Well, it was a long time coming but I finally got in.  I'm actually feeling a lot better but I wrote a whole letter to the dr outlining my family history and symptoms.  He does think bipolar but didn't say whether it was I or II.  I think it's probably II.  He prescribed me lamictal and risperdal.  Initially he was going to start me on both but I was kinda scared so he told me I could start the lamictal and use the resperdal as needed if my anxiety is really bad or if I get the agitated feeling.  The risperdal scares me more than the lamictal.  Does anyone else have experience with risperdal?  He started me super slow on the lamictal because of my sensitivity to meds.  I'm to take 25 mg, every other day for 2 wks then once a day for 2 weeks, then twice a day for 2 weeks and then increase 1 a day every two weeks.  I know it's slow but I'm a chicken.  It'll take forever to get me to a therapeutic dose but I'm better starting slow.  What can I expect from the lamictal?  I did so bad on the SSRI's that I'm terrified of meds.  Well, I better go but I hope you are all doing well out there.  Take care.

I feel much like you Crissi, when it comes to the meds. They scare the devil out of me. I've not taken lamictal or risperdal but may be starting a new med soon. I've recently had to quit my abilify due to terrible anxiety and panic attacks. I too am VERY sensitive to medications and am always uncertain about starting a new med. I've heard good things about both the drugs you've been prescribed though, so I wouldn't worry too much.
Take Care
Good judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.
