My brother in law has just been diagnosed and hospitalized for bi-polar disorder at Sierra Vista Hospital in Sacramento. This is all very shocking and devastating to my family. We are not at all happy with the hospital he is at right now and are desperately searching for somewhere else. It is mandatory. I would really appreciate any reccomendations of facilities in Northern California. Price is no object. The Sacramento or Bay area would be best but any reccomendation would be great. Thank you so much.

Hi Isaash,  I wanted to welcome you to healing well forum.  I am so sorry about your brother in law's diagnosis I know it is hard.  I just wanted to give you the suggest of calling the Department of Mental Health for your state.  You should be able to find their number in the phone book.  They should be able to direct you where to go next if your having problems with the hospital he is at.  I live in MO but each state is mandated by federal gov for Dept of Mental Health.  This is probably the best option at this point.  Good luck....

HI.  I just read your post and hope everything was squared away since it was back in May. However, my husband has not been diagnosed, but did have a manic episode a while back.  He was placed in the Sutter Psychiatric Center on Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento.  We have good results and I was impressed with the care there.  Good luck to you.

in addition to the suggestions made, you might want to do a search on the web.  i haven't tried these, but you might try  "califoria mental health" of "sacomento psychiactic hospitals."

i am jewish and live in the land of born again evangilical chistians.  i used the web to find a jewish place of worship.  never would have found it without the web.  wouldn't have believed that it even existed.  what makes it worse is that my wife suggested that i try the web in the first place.  darn!  she was right.

hope this helps.  keep us posted and we all hope that this works itself out successfully.
