Yes.  I take geodon and it has worked a miracle for me.  I have very few side effects.  My doc tried to start me out at 60mg twice a day but that was too much.  It knocked me out for 36 hours. So then we cut back to 20 mg twice a day which was much better.  I am now on a maintenance dose of 80 mg just a night. It makes me too sleepy to take it during the day but the 80 mg at night maintains me for 24 hours.  I also take effexor 150 mg twice a day.

My daughter is on Geodon and she takes 20 mg in the morning and 60 at night...she doesn't sleep at night but will sleep all day, she is also on Zoloft

They say laughter is the best medicine....then why are my pants wet, my gut sore and I am still laughing!!!

That happened to me also until I combined the 20mg and 60 mg to equal 80 mg at night. I can't take even 20mg in the morning because it makes me sleepy all day. That's what my doc told me to do and it works for me.

My 16 year old son's doc has him on 40, 40, and 40. But I have trouble getting him to consistantly take it. He'll say it make him "high" and gives him muscle spasams. (It worked fine at first) Then the doc raises the dosage.
Then my son says it makes him have weird dreams if he takes it at night...The latest is he has been throwing up...

Come to find out my son has been "fibbing" about taking the meds. We're seeing the doctor this morning and laying it all on the line. If she doesn't listen we're changing docs.

I'm tired of playing games with both my son and this "hippy" doctor...

Good for you! There are lots of docs out there and if this one isn't working out for you, by all means seek another opinion. You wouldn't keep a plumber or electritian that was doing a substandard job, shouldn't keep a doc that's doing that either.
Good luck on your appt.

Good judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.

Uggh...dealing with a non-cooperative teen is so much fun.
Sometimes I feel about as strong as a wet noodle. Other rare times I kick butt, parentally speaking. I wish I could be more consistant....sigh.

The doctor is going to have Lab tests done to determine why he is throwing up. We may switch to TOPOMAX depending upon the findings.

Now the doctor wants him to take 20 in the morning and 80 at night. She says that's really LOW dosage and that a normal dose is 200 per day.

At least she did lab tests. Thats something. Maybe a switch to topomax would help though.
Hope everything works out for you both
