Don't know exactly what's wrong with me but I am so DOWN today.  I've had a bad week at work but that's not unusual.  I'm just taking everything hard right now.  I've been well maintained on my meds and have been doing fine until the last couple of days, today being the worst.  And I am so very, very tired. Not sure what's going on. Anybody else go through this kind of thing even though you have been doing well on medication for several months???

I think everyone has bad days from time to time. The meds are no miracle cure for honest emotion. You're still going to have your good days and bad days. If this bad patch should continue, and it becomes a depression instead of just a couple of bad days, then you need to consult your pdoc.
I hope you get a good nights sleep and feel like yourself tomorrow.

Hi Lazy,

Must be horrible wondering if every low mood is the onset of another episode -- I do that with depression, but don't have manias to contend with as well. My heart goes out to you. Ellie's absolutely right though, and, as Wmnak said to me once, "one sparrow doesn't make a summer". Hope things pick up next week and that you have a nice weekend to relax and build up your reserves again.

Thanks CC.  I am off work today and I am sick with a sinus infection.  I think this was what was making me feel so awful.  I guess between the BP and my fibro when I get sick it affects me very differently than when "normal" people get sick. Anyway, it gives me an excuse to rest, since I don't feel like doing anything anyway.  Thanks for your support....Luv....Lazy

So sorry you're ill. Sinus infections are terrible. Rest is the key. And I assume that you have been to the dr? Sinus infections often require anitbiotics.
Hang in there and feel better soon

I didn't go to the doctor because I couldn't get in today. Thought I would go to the "doc in a box" tomorrow morning before they get crowded. I felt too bad to go today and sit there for 3 or more hours. Not that I'll feel any better tomorrow with meds but if I go early enough I shouldn't have to wait. Thanks Ellie - I am getting the rest, though.

When I first read your post the first thing I considered was "might it be some physcial problem such as an infection?" - then you come along with " I am off work today and I am sick with a sinus infection.". It is important to realise that their are many klittle bugs that can take us down for a day or two. Each of us respond to bugs differently - some can get alittle down. Fortunately, this too passes. I agree also with Ellies first post.

Best wishes

Thanks to you all for your support.  I'm on antibiotics now so I hope I'll get better soon.  Now I just have the sinus headache...yuck...I asked the doc for something for the head pain (its quite severe) and he said "that's what the antibiotics are for...the pain will go away in a few days."

Come on...a few days..so I get to suffer for a few days.  Its sad to be labeled "mentally ill" and have docs afraid that you're a drug abuser as well...I can just see his notes..."Pt is bi-polar and is exhibiting drug seeking behavior..." God forbid I have any pain that needs to be treated...I'm guess I'm just out of luck. Fortunately ice packs alternating with a heating pad helps some.  It just means I have to stay in the house for 2 or 3 days..Sorry to rant but it just made me feel insignificant, like my pain wasn't important.

Oh, lazy, that's so frustrating! Is this your regular doc or the doc in a box doctor? I've seen a lot of info lately that most sinus headaches are actually migraine headaches, infection or no. People with migraines wind up in the emergency room with pain, for goodness' sake. I have chronic sinus problems and "regular" migraines, and they both suck, however they are categorized.

I sympathize with your feelings of insignificance and fear of being pigeon-holed. I'm lucky that at this point I've found doctors who are compassionate and up-to-date with recent treatment options and research, but sometimes my pharmacy annoys me. If I need to get a prescription filled say, two days early, or god forbid need to get some filled before going on vacation, they act like I'm hatching some nefarious/loony plan to sell Lamictal or xanax (oooh, .5 mg--I must be a junky, right?) on the streets. There are a couple of folks there I simply refuse to deal with, and when this happens my shrink calls and straightens it out, but AAACK! I'm taking these meds so I can function, so I can approximate normalcy, not to get high. I don't want any altered states for fun. Altered states are terrifying, why would I want to do that on puprpose?

So, sympathetic rant there. Also, if your sinuses are really stuffy and irritated, sometimes a neti pot will help. Mine have to get pretty funky for me to resort to this, but it does help. Hope you are feeling better today.

Thanks Briar...it helps to have people who understand.  Yeah, I know what you mean about the 0.5 of xanax...I take 0.5 of ativan prn and I almost have to count them out to make sure I have enough to last a month.  Don't want to take 2 of those in one day cause I might OD!!!(LOL).  I do have migraines sometimes so my headache may be migraine.  When my allergies and sinuses are acting up sometimes I can't tell the difference.  But pain is pain, regardless of where it comes from.  It was the doc in a box who wouldn't give me the pain med.  I think my regular doc would have given me something...anyway, I appreciate your post...Luv...Lazy

Sounds to be that perhas your immune system was down and you got sick with some sinus infection.  Since your body is fighting this infection, it is making you tired from trying to help fight off that sinus infection.  When most of us don't feel well, many of us feel more sad and down.

You do probably need rest and yes a ice pack may help a head ache.  And also we've found what's great for sinus relief is simple head massage by a friend, the area between the head and the upper neck.  I hope you will soon feel much better.
