I have a friend, out of state, that told me to add Vitamin B and Amino Acids to my diet.  My doctor's here never told me that.  I have been doing it.  I am almost off of my Cymbalta.  I never saw a difference in taking it.  I DID however see a difference once I began getting better sleep.  I take Trazadone for that.  BIG difference.  Plus I ALWAYS eat lots of veggies.  Broccoli is my veggie of choice.

Hi LDA,

I was pleasantly surprised by this -- reading right through it was pretty balanced, stressing the importance of certain foodtypes but also highlighting the concurrent importance of med in the process. The only time I was a bit concerned was with the suggestion that in time it might be possible to come off meds completely, as nothing I've learned about bipolar to date supports this idea, and I worry about such suggestions as bp sufferers are already notorious for giving up meds (and subsequently relapsing badly). But, as I say, it was interesting, and in many important respects well-founded. I'd be interested in seeing more, and *longer term* studies into this.
