I have been diagnosed as BP II for about 2 years. I was wondering if that was true because I had one mixed episode before the diagnosis, and another on after. Does that mean my diagnosis whould be BP I, just curious.

Hi Olivia,

You're absolutely right to question the bp II diagnosis if you've had a mixed episode. Does your pdoc agree that what you've had is a mixed episode? If so, that diagnosis does need revisiting: bp II can only be diagnosed if there has never been a mixed episode. I would really push your pdoc on revisiting this: it could affect what he/she prescribes and how your condition is approached in general, so worth getting it sorted!!

Good luck hun -- and well spotted!!!! :)
