I was given that for when my mania is bad. It pretty much knocks me out, which is better than me doing anything to hurt myself to be honest.
Because I'm not on it regularly though, I don't have the chance to get used to it. I've heard that if you take it regularly you get used to the sedative effect, so it's not so bad.

I take 300 mg per night. It knocks me out pretty well. I have bouts of extreme mania and depression. I'm sure that's why I take it every day. I'm weaning off my geodon. The seroquel works very well for me. My mood has stabilized a bit each day. Hope that answers your question. Good Luck!

I sleep ok without getting up at 6 or 7 mind still a bit racy though but i imagine it;s gonna take more than one dose of serequel for before i notice a difference, i got up took a klonopin and waiting for that to kick in. Other than that it;s a wait and see thing. The argument with my pysch doc was about how i have these symptoms and he said well have u ever been diagnosed with bi polar before im thinking he's my doc shouldn;t he be able to help me anyway i am seeing a new pysch doc on the 23rd of dec and start fresh thanks for your support Twiggy2

Seroquel is the med I take in emergencies, when I can feel myself slipping fast into paranoia and psychotic thoughts. It works pretty fast and helps me slow down and get things under control. I have a side effect from it - my heart races for a short time after I take it. My understanding is that it's a pretty rare side effect, it won't do permanent damage, but that's why I only take it when I really feel like I'm in trouble.

Some of the side effects i have noticed are dizziness mild headache but i would rather have a bit of that then racy mind like indy 500 lol thanks Twiggy2. I'll keep in touch to let u know what the new pysch doc says, i am certain i will get sent for and MRI or CT Scan of the brain eeg or something like that so they can detect were the trouble is and get on the proper med, take care Twiggy2

From my experience, Seroquel has completely halted manic episodes within 3 to 4 days at very low dosages.  Unfortunately, it makes me feel very lethargic and really slow probably because I've never taken it long term.

A friend of mine took 300 mg/day awhile ago, which they upped to 600 mg after he couldn't fall asleep with it anymore.  Eventually, he tried to OD on it and took the rest of his supply.  Apparently, the LD50 must be very high as he only slept for 15 hours and woke up extremely uncoordinated and groggy.

Seroquel appears to be very safe... I would keep alittle around for an emergency mania med but consult with your doc first to find out about any serious interactions...

Seroquel has helped a bit sleep wise anyway and my mind is a bit more less racy so i am sticking with it until i see my new doc. As for my moods there are still not completly stable so we are gonna work on that one too. That is why i mentioned the lithium anyway thanks talk to ya later Twiggy2.

haning in, able to restart taking serequeol until i see my pysch doc on the 9th, forms have been filled out for MRI and waiting for eeg to be done as well. Been having boughts of migraine headaches i am going to keep track of them and maybe the MRI will show what is going on, anyway thats the latest the eeg will be able to tell more about brain mapping and stuff so i can get the right meds i guess thats what were aiming at. Other good news my husband got his DZ license today he wants to persue a job driving truck. I also would like to know something i am needing to talk to work about my condition how do i? I not sure if i can without breaking out in tears anyway if someone has advice i would appriciate it thanks Twiggy2.
